Physics is the Tyrant

 Climate deniers tell us we are living in a falsely induced “state of fear” because Democratic political “tyrants” warn us we are dangerously warming the planet. However, Democratic and a few Republican politicians simply understand the fact carbon dioxide slows the escape of heat from earth. Consequently, they know if we continue to burn fossil fuels, we will rapidly warm. This is proven physics.

The World Meteorological Organization meticulously gather temperature data from land, water, and space instruments. This data is analyzed by NASA and NOAA and other science-based organizations worldwide. They all agree we are heating rapidly.

If, as a kid, your parents took you to the Empire State Building to see the full moon above the skyline of New York and you said, “The moon looks so close I am sure I can jump out and catch it.” Would they have been tyrannical to demand you do not jump? Of course not. Gravity is proven physics.

The physics of climate change are also proven. Ignoring the physical laws governing the absorption and radiation of atmospheric heat is risky and consequential. The difference is climate, on a planetary scale, acts slowly. We, older adults, can “believe” anything we want without personal bodily risk to ourselves. But, to ignore these slow-motion laws is to say to your kids, “go ahead and jump” knowing your kids will not hit the pavement for many years after we have lived out our full lives. Many Psychologists tell us this is one reason adults fail to act on climate.

Democratic Politicians who create climate protecting policies are simply doing the same thing our parents did when they set out the rules not to play on the edge of a cliff. For our parents this was their loving way of telling us to respect the laws of physics.  Neither responsible parents nor climate smart leaders are tyrants.

If we ignore climate physics, the real tyrant, we do so at our children’s expense.  

To learn how unified the scientific community is on climate, search out the climate position papers by the National Academy of Science, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Geophysical Union, Physical Society, American Meteorological Society, NOAA, or NASA. Or, for that matter, any long serving reputable science organization worldwide. I have spent 30 to 40 hours a week for the last 8 years trying to find a dissenting opinion worthy of consideration. If anyone finds a reliable scientific organization proving manmade climate change is a hoax, please let me know because I wish it were true. Thanks.
